Planned Giving

A variety of gift methods may allow donors to increase income and secure tax benefits while significantly benefitting the future of Goodwill.

WILLS & BEQUESTS
Once you have taken care of your loved ones, please consider designating Goodwill Industries of South Florida as a direct or remainder beneficiary in your will. Through your bequest, you can provide a gift that ensures future services for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment and independence. Gifts by bequest may be for a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your total estate, or the amount remaining after all debts, taxes, and other expenses have been paid. Your gift may be designated to a specific area of interest or left unrestricted to give Goodwill the greatest flexibility over time.

GIFT ANNUITIES:
Are you looking for a secure source of fixed income now or in the future? Consider giving through a Charitable Gift Annuity.

MATCHING GIFTS:
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs. This is a great way to maximize your charitable contribution and increase the impact of your gift.  Some companies may be able to double or even triple the amount of your contribution.

To Make a Matching Gift:
Request your employer's matching gift form (usually provided by the human resources department), and review the program guidelines to see if Goodwill South Florida is eligible.

LIFE INSURANCE
When ownership of an existing policy is irrevocably assigned to Goodwill, the cash value of the policy may be a tax deductible gift (to the extent that the law allows), as may be all future premium payments. By establishing a new policy specifically for the school, you can make a substantial gift for a relatively modest annual outlay.

REAL ESTATE
You can donate property to Goodwill, but retain the right to use the property for your benefit as long as you live. Such gifts may present a current charitable deduction and avoid potential capital gains tax on the appreciation.*

* Tax laws are complex. Always consult with your own accountant or tax attorney for professional advice on tax-advantaged giving.

If you are interested in any of these planned giving options please contact Goodwill at 305-325-9114 or at questions@goodwillsouthflorida.org.

If you have not written a will yet, regardless of your charitable intent, please consider this for it is a gift to your loved ones.
