Executive Biographies

David Landsberg - President & CEO

David Landsberg is president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of South Florida (GISF), a $125 million organization with 3,000 employees, dedicated to helping people with disabilities and other barriers to work to gain greater independence through employment.  Mr. Landsberg oversees all rehabilitation services and business operations. The organization includes a Donated Goods and Retail business with 35 stores and 57 other attended donation centers.   Goodwill also has several entrepreneurial divisions: Apparel & Flag Manufacturing, Custodial Services, Laundry Services, and other business services, that employ 1,200 people with disabilities.  Having served on GISF’s Board of Directors for 18 years prior to being named CEO in March 2014, Mr. Landsberg is committed to growing Goodwill’s capacity to provide rehabilitation, on-the-job training, work experience, and job placement services for our region’s 460,000 working-aged people with a disability.

Mr. Landsberg a proven business leader, and a 30-year veteran of the newspaper industry, was previously president and publisher of the Miami Herald Media Company (MHMC), a position he held for eight years. He started his career with MHMC as a staff accountant and spent 10 years in a variety of financial management positions. He became chief financial officer in 1996, and also founded and ran the company’s internet operations. He served as vice president of advertising for six years and was later promoted to general manager of MHMC prior to assuming the role of publisher in October 2006.

A Miami native, Landsberg was raised in Coral Gables and attended Coral Gables High School. He graduated from the University of Florida with a finance degree, earned an MBA from the University of Miami, and completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School.  

Landsberg is a member of the United Way of Miami-Dade County Agency Executives, on the Community Advisory Board for the University of Miami Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and a member of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.  He was formerly on the executive committee of the United Way of Miami-Dade, board member of Goodwill Industries of South Florida, on the advisory board of the University of Florida School of Business MBA program, a member of the Orange Bowl Committee, the American Heart Association – Men Go Red for Women Chair and on the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Board of Governors. 

 

 

Dennis Pastrana, Retired: President & CEO
Dennis Pastrana is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Goodwill Industries of South Florida.

Dennis's career with Goodwill Industries spans 35 years, and he is today recognized as "Dean" among 182 Goodwill Industries' Executives in America.

Dennis's career began in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the largest Goodwill in America, where he served for nine years and rose to the position of Assistant Executive Director.

For seven years, he served at the National Headquarters of Goodwill Industries in Washington, DC. He was Vice President of Membership Direct Services and responsible for providing consultation and technical assistance to all Goodwills' in North America and the Goodwill Executive Training Program.

Dennis came to Miami in 1979 to head a small, bankrupt, defeated and demoralized Goodwill Industries operating a few thrift stores. He has led the local Goodwill to a full recovery and subsequently to become one of the largest, entrepreneurial and diversified Goodwill Industries.

Dennis has a master degree in business administration from Marquette University. He is the recipient of numerous recognitions among them:
